Currently we are trying to realise the creation of beautiful hides outside of Overijssel, in the North of the country. Of course we will be working together closely with nature preservation organisations. In this case ‘It Fryske Gea’ is our client and partner, which we believe will lead to beautiful results.

Our first project will be a forest hide in one of Friesland’s few forests. In the Gaasterland lies the beautiful Rijsterbos where the Fryske Gea has a company building. We remodelled an already existing photo hut on this terrain, and we furnished it according to the HBN concept, so that it is spacious enough for two people.

A special word of thanks to Hans Pietersma, who laid the foundation for a photo hide on this spot years ago; already based on the HBN hides. It was Hans’ workterrain and he took some beautiful pictures from his hide back in the day.

In Friesland there is barely any opportunity to photography forest birds, but with the arrival of this hide, species such as: the great tit, the European goldfinch, the woodpecker, the Thrush etc., can all be caught on camera. However rare, even weasels, tree martens and small flycatchers have been photographed here. This of course all depends on the season and the weather circumstances. Long periods of drought and heat for example, lead to many pictures of birds while they are drinking or bathing. There are barely any ringed birds in the area.

In this hide we use a large water table, which allows for a low point of views and great backgrounds. Ofcourse this hut has also been situated ideally within the light, and we use high quality mirror glass for our hides. By now we know that the amount of observations increases by 30 % because of this glass. Although they use the wrong glass in many hides, this is not the case for ours! The mirror glass increases your odds significantly. Moreover, this hide is the first to have an even newer edition of the glass, which loses even less of the light and thus takes less shutter speed. Nature in all its glory can thus be observed from a comfy chair in a spacious hide.

We have fit our own hanging tripod system in this hide. You hang your lens in the tripod, which will prevent you from having to deal with the tripod legs, and you can set it to your preferred height, and even move it to the left or the right because of the slider. We have fit good quality ball heads of the Sirui brand on the system. You will be able to use the Sirui K-40X ball heads.

Rent:

The price is for the entire hide, so not just per person. We do not rent out specific parts of the day, so that you will have plenty of time, and the birds are not done eating yet when you start your day. The hide offers space for two photographers maximum, but going together does create more noise and disturbances, so this might not be beneficial for your pictures. You will be going to the hide with a good manual and clear directions without any accompaniment.

HBN-Sirui tripod system:

This photo hide is fit with the HBN hanging tripod system with the Sirui K-40X ball heads on them. This allows you to move the camera from left to right and set it to your preferred height. Of course there will also be HBN Bean Bags present.
